1Print the test frame

In the configurator download the Test frame (.stl) – a thin 2 mm ring with a pocket exactly for your panel and the visible-area window. It prints in about 10 minutes. Insert the display: the panel should fit without force and the window should align with the image (not the glass edge). If something is off, adjust the panel dimensions or clearance in the configurator and print again – still just 10 minutes.

Catalog dimensions come from manufacturer datasheets; a model gets the "print-verified" badge once someone prints and confirms it. Help us – tell us via "Got an idea?" what fit and what did not.

2Orientation and print settings

  • The frame downloads already flipped face down – the front lies on the bed and comes out perfectly smooth. The window bevel prints without supports.
  • The back cover lies outside down, the stand base down. Nothing needs supports.
  • 0.2 mm layers, 3 perimeters, 15–20 % infill. For a nice front use a textured or smooth PEI sheet – its surface prints into the front face.
  • Material: PETG or PLA (PLA gives crisper edges, PETG copes better with a sunny window). Matte filament looks best on frames.
  • The 3MF contains all parts correctly oriented – open it directly in your slicer (PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, Cura).

3Inserting the display

Insert the panel from the back into the pocket, glass forward; bend the flex cable behind the panel into the cavity (the body has 8 mm extra room on the FPC side). Connect the controller board and lay it behind the panel – boards with holes can be taped or screwed to the corner bosses. E-paper panels are fragile: do not press on the glass and never bend the FPC sharply.

4Back cover

The cover sits in a rebate at the back edge and is held by 4 self-tapping M3 × 8 (or M3 × 10) screws into the corner bosses – the ⌀2.5 mm hole is ready, the screw cuts its own thread. Heads are countersunk, the outside is flush. Keyhole, screw holes or magnet pockets (⌀10 × 2 mm, glue with superglue) are optional in the configurator.

5Stand or hanging

The stand is a wedge with a lip: the frame stands in it on its bottom edge and leans against the slope. Set the tilt in the configurator (15° for a desk, 25–30° for a shelf below eye level). For the wall use the keyhole on a nail, or 4 magnets – they hold on a fridge or a steel strip.

Common problems

Panel does not fit the pocket
Increase "panel clearance" to 0.6 mm, or measure the panel and correct the module size.
The window hides part of the image
Increase "window vs. visible area" (+0.5) or adjust the visible-area X/Y offset.
The panel edge shows
Set "window vs. visible area" negative (−0.3 to −0.8) – the bezel covers the edge.
The connector misses the cutout
Adjust the cutout position along the edge and its depth; for complete modules (LilyGO, Inkplate) the depth is negative – within the module thickness.

What next

Content for the display (weather, calendar, timetables) is covered by the Živý obraz project – with LaskaKit boards it works in a few clicks.
